We still keep our pup crated (overnight and while we're out) and it's ideal to have the water available to her while she's in there with no extra thought or hassle (and No Spills!) It snaps in and out easily but it's a snug fit... and you want it that way. I like to snap it in place, then fill it from a cup or her regular water bowl... this way it doesn't spill while I snap it in place. Glad I have it. It seems to be big enough but possibly when our pup is full grown we may need the larger size.

I found it easy to treat the dogs. Given the relatively high price of this product, I've been using one pipette for our 2 puppies. As they are now big, this may no longer be an option but I can see how this option could be a money saver for anyone who has 2 'not so large' dogs.

I am taking one star away because of the ridiculously high price.

This is our second crate. The other one was just too big so I downgraded the size to better fit my chihuahua-corgi mix. I noticed some other reviewers (maybe not on this specific product, but other iCrates of diff sizes) who indicated that the material was easily pushed back by their pets. I have no clue if that is the case for larger dogs but the quality is no better, no worse as far as stability goes than my last crate which was previously occupied by two large boxers who never pushed their way out of it. So, no complaints there. The main thing that made this crate stand out for me was the fact that it has two doors which I feel makes it very versatile as far as placement in my home or vehicle. My dog sleeps in his crate at night and sometimes wants to be in there during the day to escape my 2-year-old daughter and he's very comfortable with the new size (about a 15-20 lb dog). It fits his bed and food dishes with a little room to move. It's also well sized to fit in the back of my Outback. I would recommend this product.

I got this set of 5 clickers so that I would haveonein every room in my 3-room apartment! Oh, I keep one in my pocket as well!

These clickers are the best because they are small and are not as harsh as larger ones. The larger ones are so loud that they scare my little 9-pound poodle, Dante. I know because I bought 3 of them at PetCo. So, if you ever need to buy a clicker, go for subtle over volume and a high-pitched sound as well. Too harsh for me and can scare your dog as well.

That being said, these little clickers (they are smaller than any others I have ever seen) are perfect in pitch as well as volume. I wasted a few dollars on the others and I hope that my own learning experience will help you to make a good decision the first time rather than the second or the third!

I begin training Dante with the clicker for any new behavior. Also, I have been able to reduce my use of the clicker with oral commands along with consistent body signals with my hand(s) or the position of my body relative to Dante. He's both fast as well as observant!

Aquarium filters remove many harmful chemicals, but nitrates do accumulate over time, and the way to remove them is by periodic partial water changes, usually something like 20% per week. The old way was to siphon water out into a bucket, which was dumped down the sink, commode, or in the yard. The bucket was then refilled and poured back into the tank.
To change water in this manner was a little bit labor intensive on a small tank, and really time consuming on a larger tank.
I stumbled on my pump in a Thrift store, where I found it on a shelf for . In all honesty, I'm not 100% sure mine is a Python brand, as there is no name on it. It may actually be a knock-off. Mine is made of blue plastic, not green, but otherwise looks identical to the item pictured.
It operates by connecting it to a water supply with a fitting at the top in the photo. Water flows through from top to bottom, past a venturi located where the side fitting is, creating a suction which will draw water out of the aquarium through a hose. I purchased 50 feet of clear vinyl hose from my local aquarium store, attached it to this device, and put a suction strainer on the other end to avoid sucking small fish into the hose.
In use, I drop the suction strainer into the tank, unroll the hose, and attach the pump to the water tap outside my front door. Opening the diverter on the pump outlet, then turning on the water tap starts a siphon which removes as much water from my tank as I desire (water tap can be closed once siphon starts so long as the pump is lower than the tank, siphon will continue).
Closing the diverter on the pump outlet stops the siphon, and opening the water tap with the diverter closed refills the tank.
I can't imagine any way to make water changes any easier. I've been using this device for years now, and it still works great.
There are adapters available which allow the user to connect the pump to their kitchen or washroom sink instead of outside the house, if the aquarium is located closer to those water sources. There are also attachments which allow you to vacuum the gravel with the water siphoning out of the tank, if you feel the need to perform this task (I never vacuum because I don't use an undergravel filter, because I use EcoComplete substrate, and because I have fish which eat any food which falls to the bottom, so for me, the need simply isn't there).

We started off too quickly with him. He's not afraid of much, so we just had him jump right in for a ride. We left the front flap undone so he could enjoy the feeling of wind on his face. Unfortunately, he jumped out pretty much right away. We had his leash attached to the trailer, so he was pulled and twisted by the neck until we stopped (as immediately as possible). So we had to backtrack and get him acclimated more slowly, to remember how weird a sensation this must be to the dog. What's been helpful for us is that we also bought the Walky Dog bike leash. So we let him run beside the bike for a while to tire him out, and then put him in the trailer. This video was taken just a few weeks after we bought the trailer. We ride about twice a week. He was so tired after running on this day that when we stopped, he jumped in voluntarily, and he wasn't trembling when we stopped. Even so, he doesn't love it yet, but we feel confident that he will.

Someone else mentioned the smell, and I will admit that the interior smelled strongly chemical at first. If you can, let the trailer air out for a couple of weeks before you introduce the dog to it.

I needed new dishes for my cats (me and my roommate have 5 in total)
and I got tired of always having to fill up the several "side-by-side" food dishes we had, my water problems are taken care of by 2 Water Fountains (one Petmate and one Drinkwell) plus a small ceramic dish for the one cat that doesn't like to drink from the fountains.

I wanted something similar to this for the food, but did not want to have a larger sized dog feeder, or one with too many pieces to it. I saw a few feeders on Amazon and liked one that just happened to become out of stock/unavailable for both sizes it had, it was a Petmate feeder, very much like this style except a bit more angular to the overall shape.

I couldn't decide on the other "bistro" feeders by Petmate, nor any of the other more common ones. Well, I actually bought this same feeder in the "planet blue" at my local Pet Food Express (same size, was on a shelf in a plastic bag already mostly put together). It was .99, but I got a chance to see it in person and hold the thing, which made me feel confident enough that it was strong and sturdy.

I got it home, washed it, put it out with food for my cats, and they took about 20 minutes to decide that it wasn't evil and it fed them food, so they decided it could stay. I noticed that even with the smaller size, it still holds quite a bit of food and it made me hate their other dish(es) even more as I still had to fill those ones up (I put food in 2 different areas of the apartment for them, and the water fountains are next to and under our kitchen sink). I decided to get this pink one from Amazon to end my grief.

It is exactly the same as my other "blue" one, it did come in a kinda large box and the 2 main pieces separate (takes only a couple seconds to slide them together though), the quality was all the same, strong and able to take a few random "kickings" from a foot, or a cat sliding it around a bit (if not on a mat or something).

My only complaint with the pink feeder from Amazon was that it was quite dusty/dirty when taken out of the box, even on the inside of the plastic.

Overall, this product, the one from Amazon (Pink Pictured Item) as well as the other same "Planet Blue" item from the other store are BOTH great items, very easy to clean and dry and put together. The lid does seem too tight for one-handed use, but I would rather have it be nice and tight than loose and more prone to possibly falling off.

My cats have not destroyed these feeders yet, they love them, and with BOTH feeders (and now no need for other small food dishes other than for wet food etc), I can have ALL 5 of my cats eat from them for at least a week before they need to be filled up again...

After looking around for several months in pet shops and online we
found the Ivory Pet Furniture Tower Cat Tree Condo.
We are very happy with our decision and could not think of any better
indoor tree for our two cats. We have it now for four weeks.
After reviewing many different types we identified several important
criteria. Of course the tower should be sturdy. Also it should have
at the base four legs otherwise it will easily tilt when a cat jumps
on the tree. For us personally, we needed a tree with a small footprint
and a price not significantly over 0.
After reading the comments on this tree we took the risk and ordered it.
It arrived well packed and the assembly was a blast. It took us around
30 minutes. The parts are sturdy and relatively heavy so we suggest
to assemble it with some helping hand. One little caveat: The four
screws on the bottom are not covered with felt so when you move the tree
around on wooden floors you will scratch them! Be very careful in moving
the tree!
The major test followed after we assembled the tree and put it in its
final position: Our cats, will they like it? They were watching us
critically when we assembled the tree. The minute we put the tree in
our bedroom at the wall both were jumping on it and inspected all levels
and the condo. It turns out that the condo is a real favorite place for
both of our cats. Another concern we had was: Will the tree hold
when our two 16 pounders jump on the tree? Well, they did it right
away and the tree easily holds and stands rock solid. Even when
they run over our bed and jump full speed into the tree!
Our cats loved the tree immediately. Also the features are nice
and our cats make use of them. The pillars are covered with sisal
and they love to scratch and stretch. The different levels are
also very much appreciated as well as the little mice that come
with the tree and could be hung into the tree. The only feature
they do not use is the hammock.
Overall, we are very satisfied and would buy this tree again.
It is a well thought through product from the cat's and human's
perspective. We would recommend it immediately to our
friends. If you are looking for a sturdy high quality and competitively
priced tree don't look further you could not go wrong with your

Drinkwell Platinum Pet Fountain Starter Set with Cleaning Kit and Filter 3-Pack Review

I purchased the Drinkwell Platinum to replace my Drinkwell Original, which I'd had for two years now. The original still runs well, but I wanted something newer because over time the hard water deposits get more difficult to remove. The original was good ... I had the additional reservoir so the capacity was increased. I set up the Platinum, and I think it is a great improvement on an already good device. Because of the way the reservoir is made, get the cleaning brushes. I haven't tried yet, but it appears that the original filters will fit. The larger capacity is noticeable, and the pump is smaller and quieter than the one in the original. I never minded the gentle hum or trickle of the original though. The platinum is larger, but despite this, it doesn't really seem that much bigger than the original with the surplus reservoir set up. The only reason I don't give the fifth star is because the thing is made of plastic. What I would like is a metal or ceramic basin for the water to pool in. This is better for the cats, easier to keep clean, and would be dishwasher safe. If it was removeable and could be lifted out, so much the better. The Drinkwell 360 has a stainless steel version, so maybe in the future we can expect one in this design.

An additional kudos to the Petsafe company ... the originally shipped transmitter (the part that looks like a little FRS radio) was defective making the set essentially useless. One call to Petsafe and they replaced the transmitter with a new one with no problelm.

When I first got it, about a month ago, I was disappointed, using it for the spring thunderstorms. It didn't seem to work. But I kept using it. And the effects seem to be accumulative. No, it doesn't work 100%, but my dog sure seems to be a lot less frightened of the fireworks than she was before.

What I did was find the place where my dog likes to retreat to (in my case, my bed). I picked a pillow, just for her, and spray it once a day.

I've tried other stuff (Benadryl, the "Laughing Dog CD" [which is supposed to calm dogs]), no effect, in my opinion. So I had little faith in this product. But I do now.

By the way, I'm reviewing the spray. The item where you plug in to an outlet is a joke; it leaks.

Disaster Planning - Save Your Pet in an Emergency

Think disaster can not happen, you and your cats and dogs? Ask yourself, what if it were a chemical spill? Or fire? Or a tornado? Or some kind weeks of monsoon storms bring flooding, like Texas had in 2007? Or a 9 / 11 tragedy in your area instead of a business building to be done? What if you were not at home? Can you be ready in a few minutes? Want to know what to do or take?

As you can see, even if you do not live where there have been disasters, you and your petscould be at risk. Here are some simple guidelines from the Humane Society and the ASPCA have to get you started, you and your cat or dog should certainly pass a disaster.

1) Preparation: Gather supplies

FOOD & WATER

Make sure at least 3 days (or more) of water and food in an airtight, waterproof container. Be sure to rotate them with water and food regularly to keep them fresh. Remember, your pet food.

MEDICINES & Medical Records

Orderan additional supply of medicines you need regularly, as well as your pets. Add it to your waterproof container. Make copies of medical records and vaccination for you and your pet and put them in zip-lock bag in your container.

FIRST AID KIT

Get a first-aid kit for your family. For pets, most veterinarians recommend the Cotton Association rolls, bandages and tape, scissors, an antibiotic, flea and tick prevention, latex gloves, isopropyl alcohol and salineSolution. Add a flashlight and PET First Aid reference book too.

Collars, ID TAGS, HARNESS & LEASH

Even indoor pets should always be on a collar with an ID tag best with your cell phone number on it and a rabies tag. Add a back-up collar and ID tag in the emergency kit, just in case. * If you are not at home when a disaster occurs, you will find a trusted neighbor, friend or pet sitter to your pet and know where your disaster supplies are. Make sure you know how to rapidly enter into contact.

* Find out if your local animal shelters offer foster care for pets in an emergency, make ... but your lastLocation!

Back to find home can mean something totally unexpected. If your house or apartment was damaged or destroyed, you must:

My dog LOOOVES his super tug. It's lasted 6 months so far. It's made out of a rubbery material that's extremely durable. He grabs one of the four sides and it stretches out. The only drawbacks are that if your dog lets go (my dog doesn't) then it can snap back at you (and vice versa). It's a play toy and chew toy. My dog loves chewing on it and massaging his gums. You can throw it but it's a little unwieldy and better for tugging.
PROS: Durable. High value if your dog like tugging. Good for play or chew.
CONS: Can snap if let go suddenly. Can get slobbery if you accidently grab the side that your dog had in his mouth. Your carpet will experience more wear as your dog will dig in when you play tug.

Highly recommended.
